Progress Report - Year # 2 Automated Extraction of Flow Features NASA

چکیده
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations are routinely performed as part of the design process of most fluid handling devices. In order to efficiently and effectively use the results of a CFD simulation, visualization tools are often used. These tools are used in all stages of the CFD simulation including pre-processing, interim-processing, and post-processing, to interpret the results. Each of these stages requires visualization tools that allow one to examine the geometry of the device, as well as the partial or final results of the simulation. An engineer will typically generate a series of contour and vector plots to better understand the physics of how the fluid is interacting with the physical device. Of particular interest are detecting features such as shocks, recirculation zones, and vortices (which will highlight areas of stress and loss). As the demand for CFD analyses continues to increase the need for automated feature extraction capabilities has become vital.

Automated Extraction of Flow Features NASA
The use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has become standard practice in the design and development of the major components used for air and space propulsion. To aid in the post-processing and analysis of CFD results, many researchers now use automated feature extraction utilities. These tools can be applied in order to detect the existence of such features as shocks, vortex cores and sepa...
متن کاملInformation Extraction for System - Software Safety Analysis
This annual report describes work to integrate a set of tools to support early modelbased analysis of failures and hazards due to system-software interactions. The tools perform and assist analysts in the following tasks: 1) extract model parts from text for architecture and safety/hazard models; 2) combine the parts with library information to develop the models for visualization and analysis;...
متن کاملCentral Acinic Cell Carcinoma of the Mandible Simulating as Benign Odontogenic Lesion: A Case Report
Centrally occurring salivary gland tumors are rare. Because of a considerable overlap between the clinical and histopathological features, this group of tumors often produces a diagnostic difficulty to the clinicians and oral pathologists. Acinic cell carcinoma (ACC) is an unusual, low-grade, malignant salivary gland tumor that represents approximately 2% of the salivary gland tumors with almos...
متن کاملExtracting Topographic Features From Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) Images
This report addresses the problem of extracting topographic features from Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) imagery. The features are used for Earth science applications and include slope, curvature, aspect, flow direction, flow accumulation and compound topographic index (CTI). The objective of our work is (1) to support topographic feature extraction similar to the one in ArcGIS, (2) to...
متن کاملExtranodal Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma of the Oral Cavity: A Case Report
Lymphomas are solid malignant tumors having a wide spectrum of clinical and pathological features. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) is a subtype of lymphoma with two-thirds of the cases presenting as lymph node enlargement. The remaining one third of NHL cases has been reported in the extranodal sites, including the gastro intestinal tract, Waldeyer’s ring, bone, skin, and brain. Intraoral non-Hodg...
